  1. I love that we can come and pick a candle to fit us, this is a great idea. What your best candle shape and size to fit yourself? I love a covered jar candle. I also love candles that light up with a control. I don’t like top lights in the evening so candles are prefect to set the mood.

    1. Hey Jayde… first, love the name and Jade great color LOL. Thanx for visiting my site.  I want candle buying to be a fun, non regretful experience.  If you get a chance, scroll thru the Candle Characteristic Journey.  Its short and to the point.  But let me know your perfect candle results.

  2. Beautiful post!

I really like the round candles. Like the way they look and just make everything softer and gentler around them.

Especially if it is a round, vanilla scented candle! 🙂 Little things make me happy and this is one of them.

Also, the color of vanilla scented candles fits into my home so I have them scattered everywhere.

    Have a great day!

  3. I find it difficult to choose as all of them are beautiful, different, unique and I always love a variety of things because I know variety is a beauty.

Is there another post where you discussed the choice of colors? I overheard some people talking about the significance of colors when it comes to using candles, and I became really scared, as it would seem some colors are to be avoided as much as possible.

What do you think? I would really love to hear your take on this. Thanks for these beautiful post. I love colors and uniqueness a lot.

  5. I love candles because my partner loves them, the aroma that you can get combined with the illumination makes her so happy.

I was unaware of the number of different shapes, all I ever seem to see is birthday cake candles or the round (cylindrical ones).

I now have some better options for my partners birthday which comes up soon. Great informative description of candle shapes and sizes.

    1. Hey Steve, thanx for visiting my site.  No more BDay candles ruling our candle life.  I had to realize “We’re not in Kansas anymore”. 6. I have always used varied sized candles to set off small areas in a room – looking at these I may vary the shape also. Thanks

    1. Hey Penny … yes use this guide. I’ve spoken to many people who never even considered other shape options until they went thru this Candle step by step decision making process. Start here and let me know if it helps.

  7. For some reason the square candles really appeal to me. I think it might just be the fact that candle’s are normally round so square is just shaking things up a bit. It also seems more artsy to me. Like the square candle is more of a sculpture than just a mere candle.

I particularly like the infused candle. Even though I don’t know what it is infused with, or what it smells like, the layering is very stylish and makes me want to place it as a coffee table centerpiece or on a mantle. I also really like the 3 candle sets of various height. They are very organic looking and make me feel relaxed just by the picture!

    1. Hi Mariah, I’m with you… the square candles are everything!  I also look at them as being more artsy.  I swear when I’m at an event and they have square candles, I think to myself this is living art.  They may melt away, but they’re going to do it in style LOL.  Feel free to register on my TPShopping site… I give away candles monthly to a lucky person on the registered list when I know which ones they like.  Its random but people love receiving unexpected candle gifts.  Let me know your favorite Type Of Candle Scent.

  8. Its funny how life works.I have a daughter who’s birthday is coming up soon and she loves candles – specifically candles on her dinner tables.  She and her husband love entertaining and the last time I was there for dinner I noticed her tall square centrepiece candle had burnt down to below half of its former height.  It has been her centre piece for a while now.

I am sure she would love another honey coloured one and I think you just solved my question of what to get her for her birthday.  The only thing I am not sure of is if she would like a square one again and now that I think of it she may want to change the colour too.

Should I ask her or is that going to spoil it?Or should I just get her a round one in a different colour?I checked out the specialty shaped ones hoping for a triangular one but alas – nothing.

I’ll take a look around and make a decision.

Great site BTW and I have bookmarked it.

    1. Hi Lawrence, the birthdays of the offspring, fun times, especially when they’re grown.  No more toys-r-us.  The color scheme is a doosey when it comes to gifts for a dinner party.  Tall Ivory Square candles make any ambiance nicer without taking away from the overall theme.  However, if you want to be a little daring, try the tall Metallic Gold Candles.  I’m sure she will like whatever you choose. You can also buy in Bulk Candles for a set.  I use to have triangle shape candles, but they disappeared, still looking tho. Let me know what you decide.

  9. Hello ,

I simply love incense and scented candles with the aroma and ambience giving an aura not found in anything else. I’ve never really known that I was attracted to different styles of candles but after you showing the different styles available I am definitely a fan of the various sized/height square candles. I’d really like to see you publish something on the different scents and their overall effect on ones persona.

    Thanks

    Paul

    1. Hi Paul, that’s great idea.  There are so many different scents that trigger different emotions and thoughts in people.  I know Vanilla gives me a sense of calm and euphoria, weird I know LOL.  But based on the Scents Page, what’s your favorite type of scent?

  10. Oh my…I hate to admit this, but I am such a candle addict!  Just reading the variety of scents infused in the round pillar candles – Jasmine Musk Moroccan, Cinnamon Apple – the descriptions conjure such memories!

How I wish there was a way to transmit scent through a computer monitor!

I have given thought to the flameless candles – I see them advertised on QVC and have come very close to purchasing a set.  The combination of batteries, LED lighting and a remote control and or timer – plus the safety factor – really appeals to me.

Thank you for providing such a thorough and comprehensive list – A gold mine of information!  I’ve bookmarked this site and will be referring to it again!

      ThanxABillion,

      Tu

  11. Thanks for the great article on Candle shapes.  I’m always after the one that has the longest wick burning time, what is the best shape for that with safety in mind (have young children).  I thought candle stick but that’s not so safe? Thanks and I look forward to your advice

  12. Hi Tu. I was looking through the internet hoping to find a present for my wife,. Her birthday is coming up in a few weeks and I have no idea what to get her. I know that she loves candles , and in particular scented ones. She is also into the industrial look in out home so I would think that she would most likely go for the larger square candles. Do these shapes come scented as well? Jim

    1. Hey Jim, its always fun finding that perfect gift for the spouse.  You’re already winning because you know what she likes.  I like the thought of the Classy Square Pillars, either Flameless or wax.  I was surprised to find some of the Flameless candles are actually scented.  Check them out & let me know which ones you choose for her.  Good Luck!

  13. Hi Tu,

I love to buy the round tealight candles, but think it is time for a change.  I am looking for candles to create a relaxing atmosphere in my bathroom.  I like the wine candles. Which candles will you recommend for a bathroom setting?

I am also hosting a dinner later this week.  I cannot decide between the flameless candles or the cocktail candles.  What do you think?

    Thanks for a great post!

    1. Hey Rika, I’m a big fan of the round candles too.  But I found that the Square Pillars add a beautiful ambiance for a nice dinner, so classy.  For that relaxation in the bathroom many people find the wine candles original and appealing… especially for guest visiting… They’re so not ready LOL… Let me know which of these candles you decide on.  Thanx Again.
